What languages are taught in Louisenlund?
Louisenlund is an international educational campus where many languages are spoken and about 20 different nationalities are represented. In order to do justice to the students, we offer the following languages in class or as a "self-taught" option:

What is the role of the Mentor?
The Mentor is a staff member who develops a trusting relationship to the student and is a link between the school and parents. The Mentor has an overview of the student’s academic and personal development.
What ideas were important for the reform educator Kurt Hahn?
The educator and politician, Kurt Hahn believed strongly in educating young people to become socially aware, active citizens, prepared to take on responsibility for themselves and others. These ideals are still a major part of Louisenlund’s pedagogy today.
What happens if I don’t pass the IB Diploma Programme?
In the event that a student’s results are not sufficient for obtaining the IB Diploma or the student is not satisfied with his or her results, the candidate may register for “retakes”.
A student can retake his or her examinations up to two times. This doesn’t mean retaking exams in all six subjects; students can choose which subjects they would like to improve their results in.
The American High School Diploma of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges is still awarded even if you have not passed the IB Diploma.
What are the holiday periods in Louisenlund?
In principle, we are guided by the holiday periods in Schleswig-Holstein. Exceptions are the additional spring holidays.

Christmas holiday 19.12.2020 – 17.01.2021
Easter holiday 01.04. – 18.04.2021
Summer vacation 19.06. – 31.07.2021
Can I study at a German university with the IB Diploma?
Yes. The IB Diploma enables students to enroll at a German university. However, certain requirements must be fulfilled. Please see the IB Handbook (Vereinbarung der Kultusministerkonferenz) for details.
What is the maximum class size?
Our students are generally taught in classes of maximum 18.
Do students at Louisenlund graduate from grammar school after 8 or 9 years?
Louisenlund is again a G9 grammar school from 2018/19. This applies to all students who were enrolled in the fifth grade in 2018/19.
This regulation adapts accordingly in the following school years.
Who can apply for a scholarship?
Any child wishing to be admitted in to Year 5 may apply for a bursary.
Is the Lund shuttle free of charge?
No. The use of the Lund-Shuttle is charged with 6 Euro per route.
What exactly do house parents do?
House parents look after the students when they are not in classes. They live in the same building and ensure that each student follows his daily schedule. Regular communication with subject teachers and mentors, means that house parents play an important role in the education of each student.
Does the Primary School really cost 210 Euros a month?
The sum of 210 Euros covers the entire cost of tuition for a month. The cost for books and materials 15.00 € per month will be added.

Is English taught in the Primary School?
From day 1 children become familiar with the English language through playing English games and frequent visits from native speakers.
Can I also apply for the plus-MINT talent development programme if I am already in 9th grade?
Yeah. Precondition is that you repeat ninth grade at Louisenlund. Entry into the 10th grade or higher is not possible.
