Plus-KULTUR: The training center for the poets, thinkers and designers of tomorrow

A support program for talents in culture, literature, philosophy and society

There are performance centers for talented footballers on every corner in Germany. But where do those who prefer to juggle with words, question the world or want to shape the society of tomorrow go? From the 2026/27 school year, there will be an answer: plus-KULTUR.

Until now, young people with a passion for literature, philosophy or social issues have had no comparable path to top-level support as in sport or music. The initiative plus-KULTUR initiative is now changing this and is establishing special training centers for the "poets and thinkers" of tomorrow at four of Germany's most renowned boarding schools - Louisenlund, Schule Schloss Salem, Sankt Afra and Solling.

A program at the highest level - open to all talents

With plus-KULTUR, an educational program is being created that interprets the tradition of "poets and thinkers" in a modern way. The aim is to sustainably support young people during their school years and develop them into intellectual, creative and responsible personalities. The program is aimed at young people from year 10 onwards who want more than the standard curriculum. In a group of like-minded people, they find a place where they can inspire and challenge each other intellectually. The program includes in-depth education in literature, history and philosophy, supplemented by essay workshops, Socratic seminars, debate formats and rhetoric training.
projects, mentoring and personal encounters with personalities from literature, culture and science complement the lessons. A network of universities, media, theaters, NGOs and think tanks opens up additional areas of experience beyond the classroom.

Learning in an enthusiastic community

The curriculum includes seminars: In-depth exploration of philosophy and ethics. Writing Labs & Essay Workshops: Systematic training in written expression and rhetoric. Network structures: Close exchange with universities, museums, NGOs and think tanks. Mentoring: Personal encounters with renowned personalities from the worlds of culture and science. The project is already receiving prominent support from the lawyer and author Ferdinand von Schirach, who will be personally involved in the work with the young people.
