The Louisenlund Foundation is reshaping education - in all places where it assumes responsibility as a school and boarding school provider. We believe that real education must be personalized: it starts with the individual, not the system. It looks at the child, not just the subject matter. And it focuses on the question: What does this young person need in order to develop?
Our vision is a school in which class structures are broken down and individual learning paths become possible. In this educational world, teachers take on the role of mentors. They accompany, encourage and challenge - not as imparters of knowledge, but as personality builders.
But Louisenlund is more than just a school. As a boarding school, we are a place of personal development 24/7: learning happens when we eat together, when we discuss things in the evening, in conflicts and reconciliation, in projects and friendships. Our teachers live with the young people, are role models, companions and listeners - every day.
In this spirit, we see ourselves explicitly in the tradition of Kurt Hahn and the reformist boarding school.
Louisenlund wants to prepare young people for a world that is constantly changing - through globalization, digitalization, the climate crisis and social change. This requires people with attitude and future skills: Future skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, digital maturity, self-leadership and social responsibility. We educate our students in the spirit of servenat leadership.
The Louisenlund pedagogy forms the pedagogical foundation of this vision. It combines competence orientation, a modular teaching system and the inverted classroom method to create a future-oriented learning model that focuses on personal relationships and collaborative learning at the same time.
Our architectural vision is an expression of this way of thinking. It symbolizes
- the barn, which stands for rootedness, home, values and cultural identity.
- the greenhouse with plenty of light and air, in which growth is possible individually and protected.
- the garage as a place for openness, innovation, experimentation and entrepreneurial thinking.
Our architecture expresses this attitude. Louisenlund is rooted in the 18th century - in the castle, park and tradition. At the same time, we look to the future: our learning houses, workshops and observatory stand for innovation, foresight and the spirit of research.
Louisenlund is not just a place, but an attitude - whether in Schleswig-Holstein or in Rwanda. We see education as a social responsibility and shape it in close partnership with parents, teachers, students and our alumni.
We stand for education that does not sort, but strengthens. Education that encourages rather than controls. Education that inspires rather than reproduces. Our vision is a school in which young people grow - in themselves, in others and beyond themselves.
