Sailing plays a major role at Louisenlund due to its location right on the banks of the Schlei. Nautical training was already enshrined in the foundation’s charter of 1949 because it covers many areas of personal development within the framework of co-founder Kurt Hahn’s experiential education. It’s no wonder, then, that the educational campus has its own sailing harbor with a dock and a large fleet of boats comprising various classes of sailboats and sailing cutters. This gives all Louisenlund students direct access to sailing on the Schlei.
The newly founded regatta group takes advantage of these excellent conditions to help sailing-enthusiast students advance to the next level in the ILCA class under the guidance of professional sailing coaches. Located on the banks of the Große Breite, the Louisenlund sailing harbor offers everything a sailor’s heart desires.
