Well equipped for the future - sound vocational preparation

What makes vocational preparation in Louisenlund unique are the opportunities that exist beyond the subject itself. On the one hand, the students work the results and findings from this coaching process directly into their own learning portfolio and thus create their application portfolio for their future career path during their school career.

In addition, the students at the boarding school have more contacts with different perspectives on the respective student on this topic. Discussions with teachers, houseparents or mentors can have different outcomes, but are always beneficial for the students. These different perspectives on the results of the process can be an impetus for further reflection by the young people.

Access to the ALT-LOUISENLUNDER BUND (ALB), which organizes a careers information fair once a year and supports the placement of internships through its large network, is a particular advantage.

Pupils also benefit from the strong Louisenlund community when it comes to career preparation.

First insights into the professional world

In year 10, students can take advantage of the Career Counseling service in Louisenlund. They ask the counselor which subject choices are recommended, i.e. which profile they should choose if they are aiming for a particular course of study. In the same way, students on the IB Diploma Program are advised on which subject combinations are recommended in the IB in order to be able to begin a course of study at the university of their choice.

Always keeping an eye on the future

A job fair is offered annually by the Alt-Louisenlunder Bund for the upper school years 11-13 and IB Years 1 and 2. The purpose of the fair is to give pupils an insight into different areas of the world of work. Professions are presented that can be practiced with or without a degree.

In addition, a university day is held in Louisenlund every two years. Here, representatives from national and international universities present their courses of study. Pupils have the opportunity to discuss the courses of their choice with representatives of their "ideal" university. Access to the Alumni Association, which provides support in finding internships through its large network, is a particular advantage.

The application for a state university in Germany takes place after graduation (IB Diploma or Abitur) and is usually prepared by the students themselves.

For universities abroad, the application process is often somewhat more complex. With the support of the counselor, the students are able to compile all the necessary documents and write an attractive application. Our students successfully apply to universities in the USA, Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy, France and Spain.
